The Mill building
201 North Mill Street, Aspen, Colorado
The Mill Building is a true mixed-use property. It includes four employee housing units, four free market residential condominiums and 10,000 square feet of commercial space. The Mill is a design collaboration of David Johnston Architects of Aspen and Alex Papachristidis Interiors — named to Architectural Digest’s 2016 annual list of top designers, AD 100 — and Alan Orenbuch Architect, both of New York City.
The free market condominiums are branded in partnership with The Hotel Jerome, and represent the finest new luxury homes in Aspen. Located in the heart of a city known for its world-class skiing, arts, culture and activity-driven lifestyle, offering a superb location and the finest design and amenity package. The Hotel Jerome Residences at The Mill offer owners a full concierge service package affording access to the world class amenities of the Hotel Jerome, including management of the premises and access to the hotel’s reservation system for short term rental assistance.
The building — which sits at the gateway between the downtown core of Aspen and the historic West End neighborhood — offers a traditional nod to the town’s historic Victorian era, with the south and east-facing facades complementing the adjacent Hotel Jerome in brickwork and sandstone finishing with contemporary detailing. The north and west facing sides of the building reflect a more contemporary style, with floor-to-ceiling windows and retractable glass doors on the top floor, providing direct views of the natural landscape and the green spaces of Rio Grande Park and John Denver Sanctuary. The building was constructed using environmentally thoughtful building practices in a modern setting while respecting the charm and historic beauty of downtown Aspen.

Location
The Mill Building is conveniently located along Mill Street just one block off of Main Street, two blocks from “Restaurant Row,” and three blocks from the center of town.
Sustainability
Like all Rudin West Development projects, the Mill Building was designed and built using environmentally friendly materials and technologies. Rooftop solar panels harness the suns energy to preheat the water for all plumbing fixtures, minimizing the use of fossil fuel consumption. A geothermal system effectively heats and cools the building, maximize’s energy efficiency and eliminates the need for large mechanical equipment. The green roof harvests rain water to keep it out of the city’s storm water system and simultaneously creates a natural transition between outdoor living spaces and the roof.
